How Tradesman works

Walk the job once with a 360 camera; Tradesman makes the tour and keeps every photo with it, dated and placed.

Walk the job

The round key at the bottom of the app opens the ways to capture. 360 walk opens the Walk page: connect the Insta360 X5 and press Record, or Import a walk off the camera’s card or from your computer. Walk at an easy pace with the camera on its stick.

Press Stop and you’re done — keep the X5 on until the Walk page says its file is off the card. Tradesman’s own computer builds the tour: every stop the camera stood at, with faces, plates and printed names blurred. The Walk page says where it is and how long is left.

The X5 connects through the Android app — Get the app, at the foot of this page. A walk recorded on the camera by itself comes in with Import.

Photos, video and uploads

The same key has Photo (Tradesman’s camera — press as fast as you like, every shot is kept), Video and Upload from your phone. The line over them says which job and day it files to; standing at a job, it picks that job by itself. Press it to choose another.

No signal? Everything waits on the phone and sends itself when the bars come back.

Your jobs

The app opens on your jobs, the one you worked last first. Open one and each day you worked it is a circle — that day’s tour — with its photos beside it. Press the circle to walk the tour; press a day to see everything on it.

Its address and who is on it sit under its name, one press to change. Its ⋯ writes a note on it, renames it or deletes it — deleting a job never deletes what was in it; that moves to Unfiled. Hold any photo to pick several, then Group, Move or Delete. Every item has a short ID like #K7 you can say over a radio.

Share a tour

Inside a tour, Share makes a link anyone can open — a client, an inspector, your PM — with no account, for 30 days. It opens that one tour and nothing else of yours. Stop sharing, under who is on its job, closes it sooner.

Find it, and work with Claude

Search, at the top of a job, finds notes, streets and the words read off a photo — a permit number, a nameplate.

The Claude key at the top right opens your own Claude — the only AI Tradesman works with — already caught up on the job you pick: what you did there, its docs, its photos. On a job, Work with Claude over a day’s circle opens it on that day. Then tell it what you need — the email, the inspection request, the plan. The first time, it shows you how to connect Claude to your record.

Your crew

Your initial at the top right is your profile. Its + adds someone to your crew by name and email: if they use Tradesman they’re asked in their app, and both of you say yes. Put them on a job from who is on it, under its name, and they see everything on it in their own Tradesman.

Someone not on Tradesman gets a link instead — it opens for 30 days, no account needed.

It’s yours

Your record is yours: only you see it, and nothing is trained on it. Settings (the gear) shows where it went, downloads every file of it, signs you out — and deletes the account, everything on it, if you ever want that. What that means, in full.
